How to become a musician

I get asked this question.  Honestly.  People don't seem to know that learning an instrument has never been easier.  Great music teachers abound. The internet is loaded with information from lessons to song lyrics and charts to about a million songs on youtube.  Get a decent instrument and, oh god, her comes the "P" word.....PRACTICE.  Start with a couple of campfire songs that you know all the words to....("Red River Valley" anyone?) Search them out at chordie.com or some other site that gives you lyrics and chords.  Learn these few songs well and start building your repertoire.  That's it.  You're now a musician.  :)
